Why must a movie be good or bad? I say if you enjoy it, who cares! I like to watch well reviewed movies and the classics as much as the next film snob but trust me, the last film I’m watching before I die is Clueless, not Citizen Kane. I don’t care if it’s considered the greatest film of all time.
The way I feel about candles as gifts is a combination of the way you both feel about flowers. On the one hand, it feels like a cop out gift and if not used it’s wasteful, but on the other hand, I still like them and they smell good so who cares lol.
I read Goji Tarocco Orange as tobacco and didn't wonder for a second why Katya would want her apartment (with stairs, rich) to smell even more like cigarettes
Hm. I haven't seen any of the Scream movies. Neither have I seen Friday 13th, Hellraiser, Halloween or any other classic horror movies. Am I going to jail?
You're going to cinematography jail for sure. I'm not a horror fan but I've seen all of the Hellraisers, Scream, and most of the Hallowe'ens and Friday 13ths. Honestly some of them are shite but it feels like a rite of passage to watch them. Having said that, Ms Martel hasn't seen 9 To 5 so there you go.
Oh, I enjoy horror and have many favourite movies/books/shows of the genre and recommended some of them in a comment a few posts back. Just never got around to seeing these. I guess the more something is pushed and imposed, the less likely I am to want to see it. I also have never seen Titanic and stand by that choice!
Can't do candles because, whatever calming effect they have, is negated by crippling fear that I will burn the place down. But I bought a tiny, simple and exceedingly cheap essential oil diffuser and it is doing an amazing job. I also got a set of 6 oils and have the option to use them one by one or combine them depending on the mood. It has the added bonus of providing moisture in the room air.
I have to agree with you on Scream 3. The meta of the meta was giving me so much life back then when I watched it as part of a triple feature during my last year of High School. I'm both excited and scared to watch the recent installment.
Btw. is there any possibility to become a paid subscriber without having a credit card? This might sound like a foreign concept, but I don't own one. But would really like to support you two. I should probably direct this somewhere else and I probably will.
I love love love candles but a lot of the ones in my price range smell bad, smell like nothing at all when lit, and/or -- the worst offense -- have uggo tin jars. Honestly I got a wax melter that uses a lightbulb inside of a ornate vessel with a glass plate as a gift some years ago and it's stellar for anyone who can't have open flames in their house but wants all the benefits of a candle (ie. ambient glow and fragrances). I've also had more success finding wax cubes I like for it on Etsy than I have found candles I liked anywhere. I hope Katya will try the Forvr Mood candles, they're expensive but I've heard really good things about them -- let the people know if they're shit!
I love candles, but I am a bitch with migraine, so it's always a hassle for me to find the right one that does not give me a headache. When I shop online, I usually go for unscented candles and buy those zigzag or spiral ones for decoration purposes. I think it's a nice gift to give, to be honest.
Also, I absolutely relate to that lighting an expensive sparingly thing though, I have this one from Jonathan Adler, it smells wonderful, but it's expensive, so every time I light that one up, a part of me dies a little.
Scream 3 is GREAT, I don't care what people say. Parker Posey is EVERYTHING in that movie. I agree with everything Trixie says. Probably it's because of that comedic aspect. The movie is ridiculously meta, and I love that. I would also argue Scream franchise is borderline comedy, but maybe that's just me because I don't really find horror movies scary.

I used to be a full on candle and incense goth until I got a cat...

Another great list of resources, thank you :))
Katya would love the books by Mary Roach, they’re super funny and scientific. there’s one about cadavers, one about sex and quite a few others

Now that I totally stand by! I hate saccharin shit or most "romantic" films. I'm an eclectic film watcher to be honest.
